New layout and other tidbits |

William Tell - "Radio Sound"
New layout. Thanks, Ashley!
The roller coaster ride of the past week is slowly becoming more familiar. Adjusting to school is always a challenge during the first week, but I think I’m almost there. I’m a bit nervous about starting my college applications this week, though. One part of me really wants to get it done so I can be accepted already, but another part of me just wants to procrastinate. We’ll see what happens.
Nobody can ever complain about flights from Hell again. Have you seen Rachel McAdams’ new movie Red Eye? Cillian Murphy is genuinely creepy, and the movie as a whole is quite intense. If you’re in the mood for a good suspense flick, go see this one. Director Wes Craven has hits and misses, but this one is a definite hit.
Sorry for the randomness. A lack of sleep generally makes me this way. Leave me a comment, and I’ll do the same on your blog.

I love cheesy infomercials |

Jack's Mannequin - "Rescued"
Please tell me why this woman is trying to sell me acne treatment products at 2:31 am? Alicia Keys should not be endorsing Proactiv and saying it worked for her when it clearly did not. And more importantly, the makers of the project should realize that they’re not going to do convince a lot of people to purchase by using a celebrity with terrible skin. I also read that Britney Spears has her own infomercial for Proactiv… but have you seen her crater face?! Why are these people considered success stories?!
There’s clearly nothing good on television in the wee hours of the morning. If Bruce Willis tries to sell me some hair care products, I just might go insane.

School + Condoms |

Death Cab for Cutie - "Soul Meets Body"
One downside to having a teacher more than once is that they already know everything about you when you walk in the door. For instance, I had my English 12 teacher two years ago for English 10. And because he knows his former English 10 students and nobody else in the class, we’re the ones who get called on the most. There’s nothing I hate more about school than having to answer questions in front of the entire class… especially if I’ve been day dreaming.
My first few days of senior year have gone smoothly, aside from all of the stupid gossip. The homework load has been extremely light, and I’m hoping it will stay that way. I’m feeling senior-itis coming on…
In the headlines: Study finds high rate of errors in condom usage …hahaha. I guess the subject isn’t really a laughing matter, but that article reminded me of the health class teacher in Mean Girls: “Don’t have sex. Because you will get pregnant… and die. Don’t have sex in the missionary position. Don’t have sex standing up. Just… don’t do it, promise? Okay, everybody take some rubbers.” What a funny movie.
I’m in the mood to check out some new blogs. If you know any interesting ones, please comment with the links. Please note that I enjoy cleancut designs and intelligent writing. (PS: Don’t just suggest your own website.)
Thank you for all the comments on the past entry. I don’t know where they’re all coming from, but I’m going to try my best to return each and every one.

Tommy Lee ft. Andrew McMahon - "I Need You"
When did life become so fucking complicated? Maybe it’s just part of growing up, but a lot of stuff has me confused right now. If only I could get away for a few days and sort things out in my head. I’m going insane. Really. I wish I could elaborate, but it’s all really personal.
School starts tomorrow (Aug. 15). Expect a detailed post about the first day, because I have a feeling everything I’ve been dealing with for the past two weeks is about to explode in my face.
PS: I’m in love with Gwen Stefani’s video for “Cool.” She’s regained her cool points (no pun intended). I was so happy not to see any fucking Japanese girls dancing around. It got to the point, though, where I was hunting for them in the background. Like “Where’s Waldo?” Heh.

RIP Peter Jennings |

The All-American Rejects - "Move Along"
ABC News anchor Peter Jennings dies at 67. This is very sad news. I grew up watching Peter Jennings do the nightly news every night on ABC, and he’s one of the people who made me take an interest in persuing journalism. Although he’s been off the air for a few months undergoing treatment for cancer, it’s hard to think I’m never going to be able to watch him do the news again. RIP.
Other than that, the past few days have been relatively boring in my life. I’ve continued to procrastonate with my schoolwork, doing nothing but hang out with friends and surf the Internet. I only have a week of summer left, so I’m taking advantage of it. School can wait.
