And I’m still here
It seems like my life took off running a few weeks ago and hasn’t slowed down until now. Well, I’m not exactly free of everything yet, but I’m finally taking a few minutes to sit down and write a blog entry.
Another issue of the school newspaper is yet again upon us, and the hours I’ve spent working on the first edition are quickly adding up. My Saturday consisted of nothing but fiddling around in Adobe Pagemaker — as I am the layout editor — and my Sunday was spent at school doing copy editing. After another hour or two of final touches, everything should be ready to send to the printer. It still baffles me how so many errors can make it through three lines of editing.
I think the Georgia governor is just testing my patience. All Georgia public schools (and several private ones) have been ordered to close Monday and Tuesday (9/26 and 9/27) to save fuel. By not running the school buses for two days, they will save somewhere close to 100 million gallons. There really is no reason for my private school to cancel (because we don’t use school buses), but it’s going to be hard to pull myself out of bed at 8:00 in the morning when I know that nobody else has to do the same. I can’t wait until the weekend.

Ugh, that sucks. Gas is soooooo expensive though, seriously. My parents are cutting back on where we’re going because it costs so much.

I remember working on the school newspaper and yearbook, took lots of time but I did enjoy it
There’s an actual psychological reason as to why it’s good to have many people read/check over something. Has to do with when someone say writes an artical they are familar with that article because they wrote it so they dont catch the errors. While someone who is just now reading the article can spot many errors, I dont think that made sense but oh well lol. Damn pyschology class haha. My mother told me about the schools closing, that is a lot of gas. It’s the thought that counts I guess. Sucks that you have to go though :/ You wake up at 8am? Cool, in highschool my school started at 7:20 so I had to wake up at 6:30 :/

They’d save 100 million gallons by closing down school on Monday and Tuesday?! Holy shit. That’s a lot of fuel. wow..

Wow I wish we had a school newspaper. I’ve always wanted to do some type of Journalism. I did have journalism in the 7th grade though.

What time do your classes start? It’s nice you can wake up that late. Well, my first class is at 8:40 but I like to have an hour or two before I leave for school.
Good luck with finishing up the newspaper.

heh, I know what you mean. I’m layout editor for my school magazine and it’s a tedious job but it’s got to be done by someone >.

You seem to put a lot of work into your school newspaper, the experience will no doubt be good when you go for ajob. The fuel situation must be really bad over there. I feel sorry for you. Having to go to school when everyone else gets to stay home for 2 days is a little harsh.
