Being independent in Missouri for a weekend was a strange, but amazing experience. (For those who don’t know, I spent the weekend on the Mizzou campus visiting an old friend who used to go to my high school). This was the first weekend I’ve ever spent away from home without a parent or counselor involved. It was bittersweet, though; I got a taste of independence but now have to get through another year of high school under my parents’ roof. Surviving this senior year and taking in all that I can will make moving onto college an even more special thing, I guess.
I’ve developed a new obsession with really mellow music. I’m into the new Coldplay, Rilo Kiley, and Death Cab stuff, and a school friend just burned me a Jump Little Children CD. Jack’s Mannequin finally gets a break from spinning in my car CD player 24/7.
Speaking of Coldplay, I went to their St. Louis show with my friend who lives up there (see first paragraph of this entry). She got us really good seats, too, because she bought them the second they went on sale. This crazy drunk woman in front of us really stole the show, thanks in part to her booty dancing throughout the entire night. I was afraid she would hurt herself after downing four large cups of beer, but it appeared she stumbled out of the amphitheater alright after the show. If the tickets weren’t $50 each, I would definitely see Coldplay again in Atlanta on the 28th.
And because Anna tagged me, I’ll close this blog with a survey.
10 years ago: I was beginning my 2nd grade school year at a small private school down the road. I kind of miss those days sometimes, to be honest. The only things I had to worry about were my cursive handwriting and adding fractions.
5 years ago: I was in 7th grade, after having spent 10 days on a trip to Costa Rica. That’s probably one of my only missed memories of middle school. I’d take that trip again in a heartbeat.
1 year ago: I was a junior in high school. I just referenced my blog from around this time last year, and apparently I was pretty busy with the school newspaper. And apparently I was pretty proud of those shoes in the picture. That’s kind of funny to look back on now, because I’ve only worn those about five times since then.
Yesterday: I took a bus from the Mizzou campus to the airport, then hopped on a plane back to Atlanta. Not a very exciting day.
