I’m proud to announce that I was accepted to the University of Missouri for the 2006-2007 school year! Right now, this is my top choice for a college. They have an excellent journalism program, and that’s what I plan on studying. But now I’m faced with another challenge: should I settle for this or continue applying to other places?

My friend is attending Missouri right now as a freshman. Next weekend, I’m going to Columbia to visit her and to try to figure out what college is really like. She also has tickets to the Coldplay concert in St. Louis, so we’ll be going to that together, too.

I think if it’s your top choice of college you should stick with it. However, not harm in shopping around all the same. Who knows, you might change your mind later on and may want to go to a different one.

Have fun at the Coldplay concert, they’ll be sure to put on a good show.

Congratulations on getting accepted. I think that you should definitely consider this school, and after you visit with your friend, you’ll know a lot more about the school and if you’d want to be there. But definitely keep looking around! Once you get accepted into more, go and visit them. One of my good friends got accepted into her dream college…plus most of the others she applied to, but she visited all of them first, and found that her dream college was perfect for her! Meanwhile, you’re lucky your parents will let you travel so far for school! I’m from Georgia too, and my parents limited my college distance to a school an hour away! Good luck!

Wanna know something nutty? When you first posted this, I saw it, and I could have commented and been like “OMGWTFBBQ FIRST COMMENTER!!!111″, but chose not to. I think at the time my hands were full.

Anyway.

I’d keep your optionsand continue applying elsewhere. My husband chose the first college he was accepted to (U of Pitt), and later regretted it.

Congratulations on getting accepted. If going there is really what you want, then you’re not settling. If there’s part of you that wants something else, then you have to make a choice between what you thought you wanted and what you think you want. It’s a difficult choice to make, so I’m hoping that you just know what you want and stick with it because the alternative is not fun.

Wow, congrats Scott!! I think you should still apply elsewhere, because it’s always good to have other options. You should check out Ball State University in Indiana or Northwestern University in Chicago, IL for Journalism. Both are good schools. There are a lot of good colleges for journalism now, though, aren’t there? It seemed like 2 years ago when I started my search for a good journalism school there was only Ball State, so I was going to settle. Anyway, whatever you choose, I’m sure it’ll be a good choice!

Congrats on getting in!! I would def check out some other schools for settling for one. You never know until you check them out. Coldplay is a good group!! I used to live in St.Louis for a couple months.

where was missouri on your preferences? keep trying if your not happy, however congrats on getting in!

Congratulations on the acceptance. I am happy for you. But I advise that you: shouldn’t just settle with one university acceptance. To have one university is basically to have all your worries about being a bum the next year out the window, but it’s good to have other options. After all, if you know you want to go to Mizzou, you already have all the possibility of going there. It’s just nice toyour eyes to other options. It’s senior year; the world of uni isng up for you. =)

MAN! you have NO IDEA just how jealous you made me! You’re taking up a course I’m very much interested in (given the fact that I’ve been writing for our school newspaper *grins*) and you’re going to see a Coldplay concert. I’m a huge fan of theirs but I haven’t managed on seeing them in any of their concerts. *sniff* And, CONGRATULATIONS!

Wow, congratulations! I’m so happy for you! I don’t think it’s nessecary to apply to any more if this is really where you want to go but it’s always good to have options. Besides, it’s much cooler if you say that you were accepted to every college you applied to, as opposed to just one.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! From what I know you’ve wanted this since you started seriously thinking about college, and now you’ve got it. You seem really dead set on becoming a journalist, and if they’re the best journalism school in the country, what on earth have you got to lose?? Don’t be put off just because everyone else you know applies to every college they know; this is your life, your decisions. Go for it, it’ll be great! At the end of next weekend, you’ll come back from your trip knowing for absolute certain what you want to do, I bet it’ll be spending four years there.

from personal experience, i was pretty dead set on going to the univ. of florida, so i didn’t look anymore. i don’t regret not looking anymore.

I’m happy for you that a top choice college has accepted you, though can’t you still apply for schools anyways? I mean. I’ve heard about peope applying to loads of colleges, and then out of all the acceptance letters they recieve, they just pick on school, and let the rest go. So you could do that, right?

I don’t know if the previous commentors knew, but it’s program is one of, if not THEE, best journalism program in the nation. Being a visitor here for quite some time, I know that you aspire to be a journalist, so this acceptance must be perfect to you. It’s up to you to explore more, but judging from what I know about you from your site - Missouri is perfect for you

First off, congratulations on your acceptance. Second, I think it would be wise for you to keep your optionsand continue to apply to other schools. If you don’t, and you change your mind about what college you would like to attend, you won’t really have as many options It’s up to you, though. Whatever would make you happiest and whichever school will have the environment that is most conducive to learning for you will obviously be the best choice.

Congratulations! I heard it is better to wait for responses from other schools you applied to before making a final decision so good luck.

Congratulations! I don’t know about your dilemma though.. I would look at other colleges/universities but still hold on to this one.

If this was your top choice of all the college’s you applied too, then I’m sure you’ll be happy with it. If, since you did get into it, you’d like to try for an even better program, if you know for one, then I’d go for that too. Congratulations!

If I was you though, I’d apply to more just to have more options and to see how many of the schools that I wanted to apply to would actually accept me. Have fun in Columbia.
