All good things come to an end

My last entry became flooded with comments concerning the death of VortexMB.com, so I thought I’d make an official entry about the issue.

As of right now, my decision to close the message board is final. Yes, that sentence sounds hypocritical, but I hate to rule out the possibility of making a new board in the future. So please pay your last respects, if you will. The comments will beuntil my next (real) entry.

Homecoming and Halloween

I would have written again sooner had my computer not been disconnected from the Internet and in several pieces. (Note to self: never again try to install a USB 2.0 Hard Drive without parental supervision)…

This past week has just been nonstop busyness with all of the Homecoming and Halloween stuff going on at once. I really hadn’t made definite plans for either, but things just fell into place nicely at the last minute. It almost felt awkward going to school on Tuesday in normal clothes; the previous week was full of themed dress up days, followed by Halloween on Monday. I can’t go into any more details, because I don’t want some friends/parents knowing any more about my life than they already do.

I really want to get my iPod installed, but I need that Hard Drive to do it… ugh, this is so frustrating.

The mall adventure

iPodI’m pretty sure I deserve the gold medal for my shopping adventures on Wednesday. Going to the mall is already a hassle, but dealing with rude and foreign salespeople is an even greater challenge.

Edit: I just wanted to address the comment calling me a “racist” for using the word “foreign” in regard to the salesperson. If you actually knew me personally, and not just as the text you read on a computer screen, then you’d know that I’m not racist at all. There are too different salespeople I am referring to in this blog entry — one that could not speak English and one that was downright rude to me and my parents. I’m a very tolerant person, but it’s irritating when I can’t understand the lady who is helping me pick out a suit. If English is such a challenge, maybe a job in sales is not the right job for that person. Clearly that’s just my opinion, and you’re allowed to disagree. But come on, I’m making a ton of sense here, so why would you?

I picked up my homecoming suit for the dance this Saturday, and I’m amazed by it. If I could wear a suit every day and not freak people out, I definitely would. While I was at the mall, I dodged the rude Apple people and picked up my new iPod.

The universe feels balanced again.

Shifting topics to something random that has been on my mind for a few days. Note that I was 12 years old during the 2000 election between George W. Bush and Al Gore, so forgive me if I don’t know exactly how this works. Having said that, I’m curious about the amount of time that people are supposed to leave up their election bumper stickers. It’s been nearly a year, and we all know the outcome by now. Leaving your bumper sticker up, for whatever reason, isn’t going to change anything. All it takes is a little Goo Gone, and that sticker can be off in no time. It’s a mere $6.99… what’s the hold up?

Expect a new blog entry on Sunday. My homecoming dance is Saturday night, and I’m pretty sure I’ll have tons of pictures to share with you guys.

Decent grades for a change?

Report cards arrived this weekend, and I’m fairly pleased with the results. Except for that horrible Spanish grade…
Precalculus: 90 (A)
Government: 97 (A)
Journalism: 100 (A)
History and the Media: 91 (A)
English 12: 83 (B)
AP Spanish: 72 + 10 “AP points” = 82 (B)

The final homecoming spirit week of high school is upon us, and I couldn’t be more excited. Each day is a different “dress up” theme, including PJ day, Decades Day, Tropical/Pirate Day, Country Western Day, and Class Colors Day. I’m hoping for a football win this year because I’m mildly upset that we’ve lost our homecoming games for the past five years.

I’m finding it difficult to keep my eyes I have so much work that I put off until tonight, and it’s coming back to bite me in the ass right about now. It’s time to bustthat four pack of Red Bull. What a long night it’s going to be…

Geek stuff

Have you picked out your Halloween costume yet? I’m trying to narrow down the following three ideas:
1. Quail Man (from the cartoon Doug)
2. An emo kid
3. Jesus

I’m about to be one happy nerd. My dad promised to get me a new hard drive this week before I buy my new iPod. My current hard drive is old and small, and my enormous music collection has overgrown it. I can’t wait to put the rest of my CDs on my computer and transfer them onto my yet-to-be-purchased iPod.

I’m awaiting a long and strenuous weekend, working on the school newspaper. I’ll try to come up for air every now and then, maybe to get in a blog entry or two. My job will be ten times easier if the new RAM gets installed on the school laptop by Friday afternoon. After giving the wrong address to the computer company, UPS lost the package containing said RAM; consequently, I was on the phone with customer service for entirely too long. Things should be fixed now, though.

It’s amazing how boring my life has gotten. I just wrote an entire entry about computer parts. And sadly, those were the two newsworthy events of my day. Sigh…
