About the domain
Remixx is generously hosted for free by Magic Communications. The domain was born on May 24, 2003 as a personal/blog site. During the fall of 2003 and Spring of 2004, I moved to different domain names, Addicted.nu and Trashy.nu, but I eventually came back here on June 2, 2004, after the 1 year anniversary of this domain. Eek, it’s been a few days. I’ve been feeling sort of bummed out about my grade for honors Physics, so I really haven’t been in the mood for much lately. You know it’s a bad sign when your teacher personally calls your house over Christmas break. It’s never to wish you a Merry Christmas, unfortunately. I’ll let you figure out the rest because I’m a little too pissed off about it to go on.

Well it’s officially Christmas Eve, a day that has never really been a good day for me. I’m not religious at all. I just… don’t believe in that stuff, and I haven’t ever since I could think on my own. I’m a very “see it to believe it” person, so I can’t be convinced to believe in God without proof. It’s always somewhat of a struggle to force myself to go to church and put on this big Christian happy face when I don’t believe in it. However, I know that it would probably piss off my family and a lot of family friends if I don’t suck it up and go, so I guess I’ll just force myself to sit through another “praise God marathon” tonight. I wouldn’t even celebrate Christmas at all either, but it’s really not so much a Christian holiday anymore. Of course there are some aspects (Jesus’ birth and what not), but it’s mostly just a commercial holiday to get people to buy from stores to help year-end sales. Oh well.

Brooke made me an amazing layout that I plan on using pretty soon. I feel guilty putting up so many non-self-made layouts in a row, so I’m going to hold off for a bit.

Merry Christmas Eve!

Exams are finally over, but I’m not so thrilled with the outcome of my exam for honors Spanish 4. I didn’t even get to finish the second essay question, so my grade has probably gone down the shitter. Just what I need to ring in the holiday season… bad grades! *cough*.

I exchanged gifts with some of my friends today, which was fun. I got a lot of gift cards (American Eagle, Chili’s restaurant), a Lindsay Lohan poster, and a ton of candy. Seriously, I’m going to have candy until NEXT Christmas, I have so much! Eh, maybe I can give some away to other friends because I seriously can’t eat all of it. I can’t get fat, haha.

I’m really excited for the time off from school. It’ll be nice to just have two weeks of do-nothing time. I’m currently in the process of upgrading Vortex to XMB 1.9.1 (which is long overdue) with someone from XMB garage. Hopefully that’ll be ready sometime around Christmas for all of you Vortex members!

First semester exams have begun.

[EDIT] I finally have a bit of free time to write a more extended entry now. I took my math exam this morning, which wasn’t too hard *knocks on wood.* A lot of the questions on it were copied directly from our previous tests, so I already knew some of the answers just from memory. I guess it wasn’t really a fair test of our knowledge, since we could remember most of the answers without having to do any work, but I’m not complaining. I hope I did well though like I think I did. After math, I had my English exam. The vocabulary section was a bit challenging, especially the matching sections of roots. I think I would have done a lot better if I knew Latin, haha. Overall, today was a good day for exams. I am, however, a bit scared of my US History and honors Spanish 4 exams on Monday. After that though, I’ll be done for the semester. Then it will be Christmas break! [/EDIT]

New skin: click here. I was given three layouts by Hannah (this being one of them) in exchange for buying and hosting her new domain. This is now my absolute favorite layout I’ve ever used, so thanks, Hannah! Look for two more by her to be released in the near future, along with two made by me. It’ll be a party, right? Yeah. Yay for new skins.

By the way, for those who care, my doctor gave me a perscription for my sinus and ear infections. I’m finally feeling better, so thanks for all your kind ‘get well’ wishes. You all are awesome.

I’ve received two Christmas cards in the mail over the past few days; one from Latosha and one from Lizzie. Thanks guys! Now I need to go buy some Christmas cards at the store so I can send mine out.

I’m off to study and do homework. I have three finals this week and two on Monday!

I’m in one of those half-sick/half-well phases right now. It seems like everyone around me is coming down with different illnesses, but I’ve managed to only get partially sick? It’s that feeling that you get when a cold is coming soon, but it’s not quite here yet. The weird thing is, I’ve felt like this for about a week. I really haven’t gotten unbarably sick, nor have I gotten better. Odd. I’m probably going to make a trip to the doctor soon to see if he can give me a prescription for sinus infection medicine, because I have that awful sinus pain. I hate this.

This week just hasn’t been a good one. I’ve been swarmed with work, like I predicted. I worked for a solid five hours tonight (technically last night) on the school newspaper (I’m a layout editor), took a break for “The O.C.” (which, by the way, was really shocking), and then cranked out a four page English essay and some math homework. I still haven’t managed to get to sleep yet, but I’m going straight to bed after I finish typing this.

I have to sacrifice my Friday night to work on the school newspaper some more. It’s the night to send off the third issue of the year to the publisher, so all the editors (myself included) are having an extended copy editing meeting. Our meetings like this usually last until 8 or 9 pm, so I’m not too thrilled. All I want right now is to go back to bed. And factoring in the fact that I’m taking the ACT for the first time Saturday morning just makes me want to crawl into a cave and hide. Stress sucks.

Before I go, I just want to take a moment to thank all of you loyal commenters for continuing to stick with me during my semi-absence. I have still managed to get on the computer nearly every day recently, but only for a short time. I just feel kind of out of the web scene at the moment, and I’m so sorry for those of you waiting for returned comments. I don’t think I’ve had the chance to surf people’s sites in nearly a month, and I apologize! Hopefully I’ll get back into the swing of things after all this pre-Christmas-break work is done and I have some time to relax. Keep sticking with me, because I am coming back strong soon.

[EDIT] New layout added to the yardsale page featuring Jake Gyllenhaal. Go buy it! [/EDIT]

I wish someone would acknowledge the fact that the SATs are not an accurate or up to date test of students’ knowledge. There is only a small correlation between a student’s intelligence and his/her SAT score, yet that test is a huge deciding factor of which colleges he/she can attend. The only thing an admissions board can really get out of a student’s test scores is how well he/she took that one test, instead of his/her overall intelligence. And on top of that, it sucks a good four hours out of a Saturday morning which could otherwise be used for catching up on sleep. Yeah, if you haven’t already guessed, I took the SATs for the first time over the weekend. However, this wasn’t the first time I’ve ever seen the test. I’ve taken a few SAT prep classes, and I’ve taken the PSAT twice; I’ve just never taken one that would go on my transcript. I think I did okay. This isn’t going to be my last time taking the SAT though; I’m probably going to take the old SAT again in January/February and then the new SAT (with writing) a few times after that. I highly doubt I’ll ever be satisfied by my score. Anyway, now I’m sitting here thinking to myself: where did my weekend go?

I only have one more full week of school classes left until Christmas vacation. You’d think I’d be excited about that, right? Not so much. Once you throw in a few more days of classes next week and then three days of exams, my vacation won’t start until December 22nd. The coming weeks will also be the most stressful of all, somewhat like the end of the school year. Teachers will try to cram in last minute tests, projects, and homework assignments, in an effort to fuck up our semester grades and make us want to kill ourselves. I’m not looking forward to this at all.

Sidenote: go see “National Treasure.” The plot sounds really stupid, but it was so worth by $8, despite the horrible acting.
