If you have a livejournal, go join the 2008_democrats community!

It’s never too late for more post-election humor. (more…)

This is going to be the nerdiest rant ever, but here I go. I absolutely hate when people online in this little blog community claim to “know PHP.” I hate to break it to you, but “knowing PHP” stems far beyond those little PHP includes or strings. Having the ability to copy and paste a simple one line code or skin your website might be enough to impress your grandma, but it’s really not something to brag about. I get annoyed when I see “I’ll PHP your site for $2.00″ threads at VortexMB. It’s incredibly funny how much confidence some kids online have in their website abilities, when they really have hardly any at all. And before anyone jumps down my throat about being a hypocrite: no, I never claimed to “know PHP” either. I’m only writing about the people that claim to be oh-so-knowledgeable, but really have no idea at all. This should put things into perspective, introducing some of the basics of PHP.

On an unrelated note: I think I’m going to decorate for Christmas later. No, I’m neither religious nor do I believe in the Christian aspect of Christmas. I just like the presents, Christmas trees, lights, egg nogg, Christmas cookies, parties, and all that good stuff. I love this time of year. It puts me in a good mood. It’s a shame that I’m so broke though.

And from now on, if you’re looking for daily blogs, visit my livejournal.com. I tend to write my more personal thoughts there, thanks to the extra privacy.

I really hate when people try to shove their views down my throat. This whole “go Vegeterian” craze has gone too far. I eat meat, and I’m okay with it. If you don’t eat meat, for whatever reason, that’s fine too. But please spare me by not posting pictures of dead turkeys in your blogs, without warning, on Thanksgiving. That’s really not something I want to see. It’s just dumb to force your propoganda on someone else when they didn’t ask for it. As Ashley says, I’ll spit in your eye.

In other news, I got a new livejournal account, so go add me. It will be friends only, just like my old one.

I’m going to go try to enjoy my Thanksgiving now. Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it!

It’s really not fun to be rudely awaken (or is it spelled “awoken"?) on a Wednesday morning at 9:00 am by a chainsaw outside my window. Or maybe not a chainsaw, but some sort of contraption made for cutting tiles. Hopefully the tile in my parents’ bathroom can be done soon, because I’m sick of hearing the people working on it. The sharp zinging noise just isn’t a good thing to hear after only six or seven hours of sleep. And that’s why I’m here, awake at a ridiculously early hour on my first day of Thanksgiving break, complaining to you.

Thanks for all the comments on the new skin by Donna. I think I’m going to find some earmuffs and bury myself under one of my pillows now.

New skin: Jukebox Breakdown by Donna. I’ve had it sitting around for nearly a month (or maybe it’s been longer?), and I just now got around to actually releasing it. I’m hoping to add a plethora of new skins in the coming weeks, some made by other people (like this one), to make up for not having any in a while. Enjoy.

In other news, Thanksgiving is Thursday. What are your plans? Last year I went to the beach, ended up getting sick the whole weekend, and generally had a lousy time. Hopefully this year will be better, except we unfortunately won’t be going to the beach; at least I don’t think. Anyway, Thanksgiving foods don’t really interest me very much. I’m not a big turky eater, so I usually just eat the potatoes and bread. So healthy, right?

School stuff: I got an 82% on my transcendentalism test for English, which is far better than I’d imagined. A low B isn’t the best, but I’m happy with it. I’m actually managing to make A’s and B’s on every assignment in English class this year, which is quite a pleasant surprise. I’m proud of myself, despite the minimal effort I put forth.

I have a project for Honors Spanish 4 lingering over my head, so I should probably go finish that. It was actually due today, but I got lucky and my name wasn’t called to present until tomorrow. Off to work on that now.

Random thought: Eminem’s “Mockingbird” song puts me through a whole roller coaster ride of emotions when I listen to it. It’s so sweet. Hayley is one lucky girl for having a celebrity dad that cares so much about her. The rest of the new “Encore” CD is really good too, except for a few dumb songs/skits.

I think I’m going to start my holiday shopping soon. I’m always at a dilemma deciding to whom I should give presents, because I hate being the guy who receives a present from someone but doesn’t give one back. But then I also feel dumb when I give someone a present and they don’t give me one back. The holidays are so hard and stressful trying to pick out good gifts amidst a ton of people. I need to get as much shopping done this weekend before the post-Thanksgiving crowd swarms the stores!

I have a few new skins sitting around that I’ve accumulated in the past few months. I think I might release a few of them at once soon. We’ll see. I’m off to take a shower now.

Why do all of my teachers decide to group their tests within a 1 or 2 day period? It really bothers me. I had a test today, and I’m going to have three tomorrow. On top of that, I have a Spanish project due Monday and a journalism article due Friday. I don’t have Spanish or Journalism tomorrow though, and I’m not going to be at school on Friday (doing something outside of school for jouralism). I’m going to have to get it all done outside of school before then. And that’s just not going to happen.

I’m in one of those moods where I really wish I could have a few sick days. But then I think about the monsterous pile of work I have to do, and I get even more discouraged. But I know that if I don’t do it now, it will just build up forever. The bad news is that I think I’m actually getting sick, for real. And that depresses me even more.

Sorry. Just a little teenage angst. I’m getting offline to actually do the work now instead of just complain about it!

Cheer me up by buying advertising. I added a new screenshot of my statistics, so that should hopefully encourage you to buy. I need money. Please please please.

It amuses me how little sense of humor some people have, referring to the last post. I guess some Bush supporters get a bit offended when, gasp, someone makes an anti-Bush joke. That IQ chart, by the way, was not factual at all. It’s just for laughs. Some people need to learn how to take a joke.

ANYWAY, I don’t want to dwell on that because I’m in such a good mood! I don’t believe I’ve mentioned this in my blog (only to a few friends), but I went to the Yellowcard and The Starting Line show tonight last night with a friend of mine! This was my second time seeing Yellowcard. Even better than the first time! It’s kind of funny though how the crowd has changed since I last saw them in the beginning of April. After they exploded on MTV, a lot of the old fans stopped liking them. It was mostly just the Hollister/Abercrombie crowd at the show, which was kind of upsetting. That’s one thing I usually like about going to shows: seeing the different people. I actually saw parents at this concert bringing their little 13 year olds. I still love Yellowcard, but this will probably be the last show of theirs that I go to. It just reminded me too much of a Britney Spears concert. Anyway, Yellowcard and The Starting Line were amazing as always, and I took a LOT of pictures. Some turned out well, but a lot of them came out really blurry. I was extremely far away at times, so the location and quality varies. Click the “more…” link to view. Beware dial up users!

I hate those days when nothing eventful happens, and I have absolutely nothing to say… yet I still force myself to blog anyway.

I think I’m going to start my next article for journalism soon. I’m writing a features story for once, and I’m going to try to get to the bottom of why our Spanish language department sucks (except I’ll word it nicer!). The other languages, French and German, have exchange programs every year where people from France and Germany come here and the French and German students at my school go to France and Germany. However, we don’t do anything like that for Spanish. I’ve also been a member of the Spanish Club since 8th grade, but I’ve never attended a meeting. No, it’s not because I’m a lazy ass who never goes; it’s because we never have meetings. I’m really sick of the Spanish department… sucking; it’s so poorly organized. I’d like to do all the cool things that the other language kids get to do. My article is probably going to end up a little slanted since I am in Spanish, but most of all, I just want answers and hopefully a change. It’s kind of ridiculous how the most popular language at my school is also the least funded and participates in the fewest activities.

Hey, I am pretty good at changing things at school. Last year I wrote an article about how we only had two Coke machines (which is far too few for the entire school), and they immediately added two more Coke machines. Now things are a lot easier. Hopefully I can kick the Spanish department into gear and give us the opportunities we deserve.

You’re all going to laugh at me, but… I think I injured myself again. I know, you’re all sick of hearing about my ongoing back problems, but that’s not it this time. I was playing tennis yesterday, and I think I somehow hyperextended my elbow (I think that’s the term?). I can’t bend it… at all… and I’m afraid to tell my mom because she’s probably just as annoyed at my injuries as I am ([EDIT] I told her, and we’re going to wait a day before going to a doctor or anything, just to see if it goes away first [/EDIT]). My elbow continuously throbs, and I get a shooting pain when I try to move my arm. Why am I so accident prone? I should be living in a bubble… or a room with padded walls. I’m cursed, I tell you.

I watched “The Breakfast Club” on Saturday with some of my friends. I had my doubts going into it, thinking it was going to be some cheesy chick flick, but it was actually quite good. Funny, sad, real… what else could you ask for in a movie? I did however notice a striking similarity to the movie and that Degrassi episode where they all had detention in the morning. I think the writers of Degrassi got a little overinspired when writing that episode, because it’s virtually the same thing as The Breakfast Club… except The Breakfast Club principal wasn’t in that tight excercise uniform…

In other news, new cam pics have been added to the cam page. And I messed around with a bit of the content and sidebar stuff. Go have a look.

Every Tuesday and Friday mornings, the student government at school sells Chick-fil-A biscuits to the students for $2, but some kids decided to try to steal money from SGA. For a few months, they’d pretend they “didn’t get their change back” or something, so the people would give them a few extra bucks. It’s so hectic in the morning since everyone’s trying to buy food, which resulted in an easy way to steal. Anyway, those people got expelled from the school after the administration found out, and the school newspaper (which I write for) wrote a front page article about what happened. Of course we left out the stuff about the kids getting expelled because that’s a disciplinary offense, and we can’t write about it. Needless to say, there was still a big stir over the article after it was published. We received numerous complaints about how we’re “slandering the school” by printing it; although, for it to be slander, it would have to be false information, which it wasn’t. I thought the way we approached the article was quite diplomatic. We weren’t digging for controversy; we were just stating the facts. Most of the article was about how the school plans to fix the problem in the future, instead of focusing on the details of the stealing. It’s not our fault that things like this happen at the school, and as the writers of the school newspaper, it’s our responsibility to print it as news. Many teachers were saying how embarassed they were because of the article, but that’s just complete nonsense. The purpose of the school newspaper is to print the truth about what’s happening at school. The things kids are concerned about. We already have a “school newsletter” put out by the administration, which they use as a public relations tool to lure in prospective students (because it’s a private school). That, however, is not our job. We’re not there to make the school look good, and we’re certainly not there to write fluffy articles. We report the fucking news, and I don’t understand what is so hard to understand. People are so dumb sometimes, especially in my school.

While I’m on a ranting spree, I must mention how ridiculous this is. And this. George Bush is busy messing up the entire middle east, yet we make it a top priority at home to discriminate against homosexuals? I find it disgusting, and I’m not even gay. Regardless of your views on gay marriage and whether it should be legal or not, you have to admit that changing the definition of “marriage” in textbooks is definitely crossing the line. At this point, these conservative groups are just doing it to spite liberals and fulfill their own fucked up political agendas. Sometimes America really disappoints me.

One last thing about the Presidential Election. Read this. It makes me wonder what could have happened. If 3,893 votes accidentally went to George W. Bush in one city, what about the rest of the state? I know it says that it didn’t affect the state result, but these votes are the only ones they know got miscalculated. I demand a recount. Where’s Al Gore’s persistence when you need it?

Billy put it best: “Voting for Bush is like being in the special olympics; you may win but you’re still retarded.”

On a completely unrelated note, I made the text a little bit bigger on the “Konstantine” skin. Some people were complaining that it was a bit too small, so there you go.

Xx. November 4, 2004 - 3:40 pm36 comments!

Maybe the last entry was a bit out of line. It was supposed to be a sarcastic one-liner entry with a joke at the end (about moving to Canada), but a lot of people read too far into it. I’m sorry for offending George Bush supporters by the way I presented the blog, but I’m not sorry for disliking George Bush. I’ll have to choose my words more wisely from now on because I tend to be extremely rude in the way I present my opinions. However, I’m going to stop talking about the election now because I’m sure everyone’s sick of hearing about it. Thanks for the 86 comments though!

Onto other things… I don’t think I’ll ever be able to finish my project for art class at school. The assignment was to make a clay pot (or some sort of clay creation), and make a collage (sp?) of pictures on the outside of it. We can also use paint and other things to make the pictures blend in with the color of the pot. I couldn’t settle on a theme for the collage, so I began work on the clay part a few weeks ago. It takes me an entire class period to make one side of the pot (it’s a rectangle), but by the end of the week, my clay from the beginning is dry. Someone also stuck his/her finger in one of my clay slabs, so now I have to start all over with that. After two weeks, I’ve managed to get nowhere. Thankfully I have until Christmas break to finish, but this damn pot is going to take forever. I’m such a slow worker, and I’m not artistic in the slighest. I hate art class!

This week has flown by extremely fast, thanks to my vacation days (Monday and Tuesday). Time to start making weekend plans! On your way out, check out Wajeeha’s newlyd site!

I’d just like to take a moment to publically apologize to the entire world, on my country’s behalf, for re-electing George W. Bush.

On a side note, I hear Canada is a great place to live…

As many of you probably noticed over the past few weeks, the old server that Remixx and Vortex were hosted on had grown considerably slow. Thankfully, Magicomm has given me an entire server for Remixx and Vortex. Due to the large size and resource needs of my sites, I think the move to Magicomm was for the better. I do apologize for the downtime over the past day or two, which was caused by the server change. As for my current advertisers, I will extend your advertising for an extra day to compensate. I know that the downtime couldn’t have come at a worse time… the day of the Presidential Election!

Speaking of that… I’m in awe right now. Going into the election, I was thinking Kerry had it somewhat in the bag due to so many people’s contempt for the current president. I guess I was wrong. This is probably going to wind up a horrible repeat of the 2000 election, and Bush will probably come out on top. I really wish I was able to vote in this election, but I’m only 16. I guess my vote in Georgia wouldn’t have made much of a difference anyway, since the state was easily won by Bush. Here it is at 2:00 a.m., and we still don’t know who the president is. I’m just about ready to give up and go to bed, because I’ve already missed a lot of sleep tonight. Hopefully this will all be sorted out in the coming days.

However, I must say that I am furious that Kerry is having so much trouble. Hopefully the provisional/absentee ballots in Ohio will give him that extra boost needed to reach 270 electoral votes. Otherwise, I’m going to be a very unhappy camper for the next four years. And you can count on some bitching if Bush is re-elected.

Off to bed now. Thanks for commenting on the new skin (to those of you that actually had the chance to before my site went down). Plugs and returned comments are coming, I promise.
