Brooke made me a skin in December, and I’ve finally gotten around to releasing it. CLICK HERE to use the skin. I’ve also decided that I’m going to utilize the “custom fields” option in WordPress, so you’ll notice that I now have a little music note next to a song at the top of all my entries (only for the newest skin). That’s obviously the song that I was listening to as I was typing that entry. Anyway, click here to use the new skin.
We had a “snow day” yesterday, if you can even call it that. We only got a light dusting (mostly ice), but everything in the metro area got shut down. Georgians just can’t handle cold weather.
Pictures of the “snow:” one, two, three, four. And I do realize that our “snow” is probably pathetic compared to all you northerners.
Leave comments on this entry, please!
Jan. 28 - 6:17 am
This week flew by quickly. Hours and hours of school and homework really start to take their toll on my physical (and mental) health. I think I’m getting a cold, and I’ve determined that I need a vacation. A nice beach vacation. Yes.
The winter dance for school is tonight. I’m not going, of course. I’ve never been to a single one of these winter dances in high school, and I don’t plan on breaking that tradition. I don’t know a single person going who isn’t required to go for being part of the student government, which is really quite sad. I think the plan for tonight is to watch a bunch of DVDs with friends.
Sidenote: I really need a new keyboard for my computer. My mom cracked my keyboard a few months ago [yes, there is a giant crack down the keyboard] when attempting to “take it away for punishment.” It’s really bothering me that she didn’t even consider replacing it. I suppose the keyboard still functions for what I need it for, but I hate how my hand always gets caught on the giant crack. Sigh. Maybe eBay will have some good deals.
I’m going to try to revamp the site over the weekend. That is, if I can sit at the computer for more than 15 minutes at a time without getting bored.
Jan. 24 - 2:48 pm
I’ll start off with some plugs. Kyle, Atiqah, Amy, Donna*, Wajeeha*, and Josh are back with new sites or layouts. Those denoted by asterisks are hostees.
As stingy as this may sound, I have a thing against giving people money on the street. I just don’t like the idea of forking over a few dollars to someone sitting on a street corner with a cup; and I don’t like it when someone is walking around asking for cash. I guess it’s that common perception of thinking of beggers as druggies, which has been with me all my life. But I had an experience the other day that proved me wrong.
I was sitting in a little park area nearby, eating ice cream with some of my friends. And yes, it is warm enough for us to eat ice cream here, aren’t you jealous? It was 75 degrees and sunny when this happened. Anyway, back to the story. This grubby looking guy came over to us asking for $2.50 to go pick up his marriage license across the street at the courthouse. [By the way, when did they start charging $2.50 for that?] … Of course we played that “oh we don’t have any money” routine in order to keep him from feeling bad. But he kept persisting, even offering us a gift certificate to a music store. He finally left us alone, moving on to some other people in the park. He finally received some money from an old couple, then proceeded across the street to “pick up his marriage license.” So my friend and I decided to follow him to make sure he was actually doing it. I guess we were just bored and looking for something to do.
Indeed he was getting his marriage license, and we were the people that refused to give him money. He then drove away in his nice Escalade with shiny rims. Sigh. So I guess he wasn’t a druggie/begger (unless he got that car from selling drugs? Hey, I’m just trying to make myself feel less guilty…). *Sigh.*
Thanks for the 46 comments on the last blog! That high of a number was very unexpected, so thank you guys so much. I need to go catch up on some homework now. I stayed home from school today because my back was killing me again, and I ended up having to take a trip to the chiropractor to get re-adjusted. I really shouldn’t be having back problems this early in life…

Bleh. Bush is being re-inaugurated today for his second term. Four more horrible years with this monster. There’s a big “walk out” going around the metro Atlanta area where students are just going to walk out of school and go downtown to protest Bush. I think they’re meeting at CNN studios around noon and marching to the capital, followed by a big concert/party thing. I wish I could go. A few of my friends are, but I doubt I’d be able to skip school to join them. Plus, traffic would be horrible with the mobs of people downtown. Oh well. Hopefully all the protests around the nation (and world?) will send some sort of message to Bush. By the way, does anyone else think that it was a bit awkward to have Hilary Duff perform at the inauguration concert thing? Hmm…
Shifting to a more upbeat topic… I never got to post my new hair on here. Click here to see. The picture was taken when my hair was still damp, so it looks a bit weird. And yes, I’m aware that I look extremely pale in the picture. You should note that it was taken about a foot away from my extremely bright bathroom lights. *Sigh*.
I’m probably going to be revamping the site in the next week or two, which will ultimately eliminate the “skins” element to Remixx. My site is starting to drag and feel exactly the same, so I need some sort of change. What do you think about getting rid of the skins?
And another thing: “The O.C.” looks REALLY good tonight!
Jan. 17 - 4:02 pm
There is no fucking way I can get some peace and quiet around here.
My cat kept me up until 2:00 am last night because he kept knocking things over in my room and excssively purring around my face. I had to kick him out of my room and close the door, only for him to continue to meow outside my door for another 30 minutes.
I woke up early to out to breakfast with friends, which was kind of a struggle based on the little amount of sleep that I got. I had finally settled down this afternoon, trying to take a quick nap around 4:00 pm, but I was interrupted again. First by my cat (AGAIN!), then by the neighbors across the street. Some little brat is blowing on a whistle right across the street from my house, and it’s ringing in my ears.
I can’t take this anymore, ugh!

New skin: “The New Year.”
This was intended to be released a lot sooner and in a completely different style, but I decided to switch it up and go in a completely different direction with it. It’s somewhat reminiscent of my layout from January 2004. I won’t bore you with any more of a play by play. Click here to see the new skin.
I’m doing anything possible to keep my mind off of my report card, which came in the mail today. *Shakes head.*
My night consisted of attending the school basketball game (which we lost) and then watching an old home movie type thing of the 3rd grade school play. I hadn’t come to this school yet, but all my friends were in it. That was probably the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while. I came to that school in 5th grade, so I’m going to have to dig through my stuff to see if I have a tape of the 5th grade school play. Good times.
Please leave comments and go post at VortexMB!
Jan. 11 - 5:29 am
I’ve been itching to put up a new skin for about a week now, but I can’t bring myself to replace the “I Run Away” skin as default. -Sigh-… maybe this weekend.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you’ve heard about the tsunami drama in Asia. While I do sympathize with the victims and the victims’ families, I believe the media is a little too focused on this one event. Granted it was a giant natural disaster, but there are a million other news-worthy events occuring everyday in the world that get little to no attention (ie. genocide in Sudan, HIV/AIDS in Africa, starvation, etc.). I wish more people would actually donate to an extended list of national crises, other than just the tsunami relief. I can’t tell you how many ideas for fundraisers that I’ve heard at school, on TV, and online. Don’t get me wrong; donating to a cause like this is a very nice thing to do. But so many causes in the world are going semi-unnoticed just because Sandra Bullock didn’t donate $1 million to them and they’re not covered on every single news broadcast/website. I’m sorry if I offended anyone in this little ‘rant’ by going against popular opinion, but that’s just how I feel at the moment. Feel free to [civily] rebut if you want.
Shifting to a more upbeat topic… I never got around to exchanging the hair dye, or stealing another box. If I ever get around to dying my hair, it’ll probably be this weekend. And to those interested, I finally got my straw in that damn juice box. Stupid Minute Maid people… *mutters curse words.*
I watched Garden State yesterday. What a freaking awesome movie. Bye, kids!
Jan. 9 - 12:57 am
I meant to start this entry about 10 minutes ago, but trying to stick the straw in this damn Minute Maid juice box thing kept me a little occupied. Why do they make those things so damn hard to get into? Do the Minute Maid people not want me to consume their product? Jesus Christ. I prefer the rectangle shaped juice boxes more than the arbitarily shaped ones, but this one is not the square kind. I finally got it, and I can begin this blog sipping my juice box. I know, I’m a dork.
I have another random annoyance from today that I want to share. I’ve been feeling quite bored with my hair for the past few months (it’s become a very dull, dark-blonde color with a boring haircut). After giving myself a self-done haircut and not being completely satisfied, I decided to go to K-Mart and buy some hair dye. After almost 10 minutes of trying to pick out the right color dye (finally settling on a really light brown), I bought it and came home. I wet my hair as directed, and was getting ready tothe box and mix the dye with the other crap that comes with it. Guess what? There was no dye in the box. And before you start saying, “how did he not realize that the box was empty?", let me explain. Two bottles were present and accounted for, but the third bottle (which is the actual hair dye) was missing. I’m quite sure that someone stole the third bottle out of the box without taking the rest of it, which is really frustrating for me. I’m going to go back to K-Mart tomorrow and just go steal the third bottle myself. Technically I did pay for it, right? I just never received part of the product I paid for, and I’m settling the score. Right? Right? Hum… I feel sorry for the next person to buy that hair dye. They’re going to go through this same thing. I’m a horrible person, but I really don’t care.
I saw “White Noise” at the movie theater. Do not ever see that movie. I think it could have been good (the plot seemed rather interesting), but it was really badly made and hard to follow. It was very dull at times too, but there were a few jumpy parts. I’m so scared of static on TV screens now, espcially after watching that and “The Ring.” Why must these scary movie makers torture me?
eBay update (purchases from this week): two new pairs of Converses, three pairs of argyle socks, a Something Corporate sticker, and a Something Corporate poster. One of the pairs of shoes was new, but the other pair was an actual “vintage” pair from the 80s. They obviously needed to be washed, because I refused to put my feet in someone else’s shoes before a good scrubbing. I’m quite happy with my purchases. Worship me for my eBay talent.
I forgot to thank Jenny a few days ago for sending me money for my birthday. That was so nice of you, and I apologize for the delayed mention of it. You’re awesome.
Dammit, I’m out of Minute Maid now. I’m off to get another one from the fridge. Hopefully I won’t have any more problems…
Jan. 4 - 12:19 pm
Where did Christmas break go? *Sigh.* School starts again tomorrow, which is way too early for me. I’m going to have such a tough time going to bed before midnight tonight and getting up at 6:30 am. I haven’t done that in so long, and I’m so off schedule from this vacation time.
I attempted to go shopping yesterday but came back empty handed. First I tried Ross (the discount clothes store) because you can find some really good stuff there, supposedly. With no luck, I left for the regular mall so I could go to some normal stores. Nothing. Then I decided that I needed a case for my iPod, but everywhere I went (Circuit City, CompuCenter, Hi-Fi Buys) was sold out. So I came home. That all took me about three hours; what a waste of a day, eh?
Meanwhile, I’ve been diligently shopping on eBay. I got some shoes from there the other day for $20, and I’m currently bidding on another pair. I also am watching a poster and a track jacket so I can pounce in the last 30 seconds. I’m getting good at this eBay stuff. Wish my luck, guys.
Sorry about another boring blog. Everyone go with Ashley a happy 19th bithday!
Jan. 1 - 3:01 am
Thanks for the 90 comments on my birthday. You guys are too nice! It feels so weird being 17, surprisingly different than being 16. It just seems so much older, you know? Only one more year until 18, which is a scary but cool thought. I guess I shouldn’t be hung up on turning 18 already… that’s not for another year! Oh, and before I forget: thanks to Mike and Tom for the paypal money.
So… happy new year, everybody! I can’t believe it’s 2005 already. How did you guys celebrate? I spent the majority of the day watching my season 1 DVD of “The O.C.” I went out to eat with some friends at 7:00 pm, and then hung out at one of their houses until 1:00 am. It was a pretty boring new year’s eve, as usual, but at least I went sort-of-out this year. That’s always nicer than spending new year’s eve with Carson Daly and a ball dropping… two images that should never be used in the same sentence (yes, that’s from The O.C.).
I’ve been thinking about possible new year’s resolutions, and a few things have crossed my mind. I want to be nicer to my friends and family. I think too much drama went down in 2004 over extremely dumb stuff, and I don’t want 2005 to be another year like that. Next, I need to start putting forth more of an effort with my school work. I think I have stepped it up a notch from sophomore year, but I really can’t get mediocre grades anymore. I’m not dumb, but my grades don’t exactly reflect my intelligence. I’m sick of it, so that needs to change too. I guess I have my work cut out for me for the new year. I hope it all works out, unlike my past new year’s resolutions.
On a sidenote, I revamped my livejournal account the other day, so you should check it out. If you were on my friends list before, you should probably re-add me because livejournal deleted all my friends and friend-ofs. Let me know what you think of the new setup.
Again, happy new year everybody. I hope everyone had a blast, and good luck on your new year’s resolutions!
