School + Condoms

One downside to having a teacher more than once is that they already know everything about you when you walk in the door. For instance, I had my English 12 teacher two years ago for English 10. And because he knows his former English 10 students and nobody else in the class, we’re the ones who get called on the most. There’s nothing I hate more about school than having to answer questions in front of the entire class… especially if I’ve been day dreaming.

My first few days of senior year have gone smoothly, aside from all of the stupid gossip. The homework load has been extremely light, and I’m hoping it will stay that way. I’m feeling senior-itis coming on…

In the headlines: Study finds high rate of errors in condom usage …hahaha. I guess the subject isn’t really a laughing matter, but that article reminded me of the health class teacher in Mean Girls: “Don’t have sex. Because you will get pregnant… and die. Don’t have sex in the missionary position. Don’t have sex standing up. Just… don’t do it, promise? Okay, everybody take some rubbers.” What a funny movie.

I’m in the mood to check out some new blogs. If you know any interesting ones, please comment with the links. Please note that I enjoy cleancut designs and intelligent writing. (PS: Don’t just suggest your own website.)

Thank you for all the comments on the past entry. I don’t know where they’re all coming from, but I’m going to try my best to return each and every one.

Good luck on your senior year! I, much like you, hate being called on in class, especially if I know that I have absolutely nothing intelligent to say on the matter and probably never will… ;)

On condoms: a couple of years ago, a friend of mine here in Kansas got a 4-day suspension for showing a friend of hers how to properly use a condom in the girls’ bathroom in HS. How absurd is that?! Damned Bible Belt…

I hate reading in front of the class. I just hate being in front of my class. So you think you’re unlucky having your English 12 teacher two years ago? Well, I’ll be having the same classmates until the end of grade 8 (I’ve had ever since grade 5). Oh the torture.

Mean Girls, I love Mean Girls. It’s so hilarious and funny. And if the gym teacher told the students to have sex, how come he was making out with the Asian girls?!

The first week is the best. I remember when I was in high school…sheesh.

All I can say about having a teacher repeat is you POOR thing. Try having a teacher sophmore year, and then have him place you in an AP class, and then tell your future teachers about you! So for the next two years afterwards not only are your teachers like “Oooh, I’ve heard alot about you,” but the culprit (your sophmore teach) pops in with a nudge nuge and a wink. So daydreaming? a definite no-no. HA! Mean Girls was too funny! I wish I had some sites to offer, but the internet seems a little dead lately. :)

hiya :) nice that the first days have gone smoothly :D
My first week was quite nice. we didn’t get so much homework which is just good :) mom went today to get me the books I needed so everything should be ok now.

you asked if it was nice in finland:
    i think it’s pertty cool :)
in the winter (if we’re lucky!!) we get quite alot of snow which is cool!! Sometimes i just wish it would be warmer here in the winter and wouldn’t have to use the thick coats…
today it has been really hot which is nice but makes me feel lazy :D i just would have wanted the warmness to come here last week when it was still holiday but whatever! perhaps i shouldn’t complain and just enjoy the sun while it lasts! cheers :)

I agree, Mean Girls was an amusing movie. I love that guy, he’s such a crack-up. *Sigh.* I bet you will start getting a lot of homework and such. They’re always easy on you at the beginning of the year, then they’re like “AHAHAHAHA, everyone and their mother does homework!” Erm, right…

Since I have no experience with condoms, that article isn’t exactly my choice of reading. But it is kind of funny, especially with your Mean Girls reference. :P
Im glad your schoolyear is starting off well. Im only a junior and I havent even started school yet, but I already have “Junior-itis”. The only major thing to worry about this year is SATs. And research. But aside from that…no applications, no college worrys….and finally some good classes.
I hate speaking up in class also, except in English because I love it. But when youre spacing out, you just dont want to be interrupted!

Mean Girls, love that movie. Hallarious.

I don’t like being called on. I’m usually quiet, and it figures that teachers always seem to call on me to read or answer questions. It’s good that your senior year is going alright so far. I bet it feels pretty good to be one. ;D

  24. Nancy Said:

    on August 17, 2005 at 11:56 pm

That sucks that you get called on more, but the upside to having the same teacher again is that you know them well and usually they’re nicer and joke around more with you. Well, at least in my experience. =P Mean Girls… seriously has to be one of the funniest movies ever. Okay, everybody take some rubbers… that line just makes the whole scene pure comedy gold, haha. Thanks a ton for linking me! I’d link you back, but the links page isn’t up yet haha. But I definitely will when I work on it. Fantastic site, it’s really nice and neat and easy on the eyes. :)

heh, ‘mean girls’ certainly was an interesting movie, it’s something to watch if you need a laugh.

i’d have so mnay websites to suggest if they weren’t all dead now, which aren’t really great to read then. i dunno if you read dooce? that’s always intelligent and entertaining, along with dumb-witness, which might be kind of gone, but a weblog might subsist somewhere…

    Regarding your comment:

“Well, maybe I’m just oblivious to the whole internet scene because I don’t surf
websites often, but I think your assumption is wrong.”

My assumption is more of a perspective. I have grounds for it all. Again that was my opinion on it.
I’m sorry if you felt bothered by it. I meant no harm to your feelings, or reputation (or ashley’s). So I appologize if you felt this way.

“It’s possible that people actually enjoy my site and Ashley’s site, just like people enjoy yours. ”

Yes, I agree. Some people might. Others even told me they link you so that on google searches their name might show up, or you might link them back for hits.

    Now about your entry.
I’m glad you came to see my blog. I was actually happy to see I finally got a comment from you. Most people feel that you’re a snob. I hear a lot of “I HATE SCOTT” yet they never give me plausible reasons. I assumed envy. So it’s good to know that you don’t hate me, and had enough balls to come leave a comment.

Error in condom usage? I have to laugh. They have diagrams on the packages now for that reason. If you can’t figure it out, don’t have sex!

Mean girls is a great movie although I resemble the personality of regina. I’m a freaking A-hole when I want be. Yet so can anyone else.

So thanks again for your comment and I hope you have no hard feelings from my entry. I mentioned you in good terms. I mean I din’t say you sucked, I hate you, or etc. I was reffering to other people who link to you for hits. Please forgive me if you still have some hard feelings.

Glad to hear that things are going smoothly for you in for first week back =) It is weird to have a teacher more than once, I’ve had that happen before and it’s not the best, but at least you know the style that the teacher teaches in and that can be an upside to things, right? haha, Mean Girls is an awesome movie… so stupid and hilarious at once =)

I haven’t seen Napoleon Dynomite either though (but I hear it’s lame anyway).. Oh well. So yeah, about those blogs.. you know, there’s this like super awesome one at intrigue.nu ;) ;) ;) Hah, Kidding. I’m sure you already know of any I’ve been to.. You’ve been around a lot longer.
