I use a program called WS_FTP to upload and chmod my files. You can download it for free at Download.com. I suggest you do that before reading any further.
First off,the program (duh!). You should see a login popup. Your "Host Name/Address" is usually ftp.yourdomain.com. Enter your user ID and password your host gave you to login. Very easy so far right?
OK, so on the left is the files on your computer. On the right is the files on your website. To get the files from your computer onto your website, you select the file and drag it over to the right box (and visaversa for downloading files).
That's the basics on how to upload in WS_FTP. Very easy right? I thought so!
